Worship and Music Ministries

At St. John’s Lutheran church, we offer several opportunities to become involved through the gift of music.

Senior Choir
Mary Marty, Director
Senior Choir involves both men and women of high-school age and up that would like to use their voice to help lead in Traditional Worship.  This group usually sings about two times a month within the worship services from early September through the end of May. Rehearsal time is 6:30 to 7:30pm Wednesday evenings. If you enjoy using your voice to Praise the Lord this is the group for you!

This is a 4-part choir that presents traditional songs of praise to accent to the worship services.  Women’s choir meets every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30pm, and performs about two times a month during Sunday morning services.  This group has a great time learning the music and singing praises to God through traditional music.

Men's Choir
Marv Streich, Director
Men’s choir is an ensemble involving men of high school age and older.   This is a 4-part choir (Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Baritone, Bass), that provides special songs of praise to add to the worship services. The men’s choir meets every Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30pm, and sings about two times a month. This is a superbly light-hearted group of men with a beautiful sound, a gift of music, and a great love for the Lord.

Sanctuary Praise Band
Melissa Morris, Director
Sanctuary Praise Band combines contemporary singers with band members to create this unique worship experience. The worship is an exciting blend of Contemporary Christian music and Lutheran theology. Sanctuary performs at the 7:00pm Saturday night service and Sunday at our 10:30am  worship service in our Family Life Center. This is a group who has a wonderful time learning the music and singing praises to God through modern Christian music.

Hand Bell Choir
Gary Schillinger, Director
The handbell choir participates in worship about one weekend per month playing sacred pieces of music to enhance the worship service. This is an adult handbell ensemble that rehearses Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00pm. We also hope to begin another handbell choir for beginners.  Stay tuned for more information.
