Grace and Truth – January Newsletter

Pastor Ryan Clark   -

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John bore witness of  Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’” And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. – John 1

Happy new year! Turning the page from one year to the next is often a time of many changes. New resolutions abound as people try to motivate themselves to get healthier. Perhaps a new year brings a slightly larger salary which might bring about a new family budget. For kids and for college students, this may mean a new semester with a new schedule and new classes. Well, when Jesus came, God flipped the book to something new as well! From the Old Covenant to the New Covenant.
From the Law of Moses to the Grace and Truth of Jesus Christ! No longer would a relationship with God depend on keeping the Law. Instead, we would receive grace—undeserved kindness—because that wooden manger would become a wooden cross. Jesus would keep the Law for us and die for our sins so God could look on us with kindness. And it is this kindness that has led to all of us receiving grace for grace throughout our lives!

So, as we begin a New Year, thank God for the New Covenant. Thank Him for Jesus. Thank Him for His Grace and Truth!

Happy New Year!
